From intern to director in two years
Credit Action, Britain's leading money education charity, has announced that Chris Tapp, currently deputy director, has been appointed director from October 1. He will succeed the founding director, Keith Tondeur, who retires from full-time work on September 30.
Chris joined Credit Action as an intern in 2005. Chris, an Oxford graduate in PPE, had intended to stay for a year before taking up a high-flying job in the City but decided to stay as he found the work so rewarding. Credit Action helps people to understand modern money and manage it better.
Commenting on the appointment, Credit Action chairman, Malcolm Hurlston said: "Since joining, Chris has helped build on the firm foundations that the Credit Action team have laid. Increasingly there is a focus on excellence, need and evidence. We reach outside the financial pale, to people whom for reasons of poverty, education or lifestyle lack understanding of the basics of how to manage their money. One prime example of this is our work in prisons. "Chris is Keith Tondeur's choice as his successor as well as that of the board. We believe that Chris has the ability, energy and enthusiasm to move the charity forward so that even more people can learn essential money management skills.”
