Government Rejection of Recommendations of Treasury Select Committee (Apr 2005)
Press Release
12 April 2005
Government Rejection of Recommendations of Treasury Select Committee "disappointing"
Credit Action, the money education charity, is concerned that the Government has rejected the recommendations made by the Treasury Select Committee on credit cards.
National director, Keith Tondeur said:
"People are using credit cards as never before but it is increasingly difficult to choose between the products available and to understand the true costs involved. It is also vital that creditors understand just how exposed some people are and this can only be achieved by better data sharing".
"Coming on top of the demise of the Consumer Credit Bill, this leaves consumers very exposed in a market where there is increasing evidence that some people are borrowing too much."
