Projects in Wales
The Penparcau project
Penparcau is an area on the outskirts of Aberystwyth in mid-Wales. It is an area of largely social housing (some now in private ownership) with about 1,400 homes. It is a Communities First area. Communities First is the Welsh Assembly Government's flagship programme to improve the living conditions and prospects for people in the most disadvantaged communities across Wales.
In the majority of the public buildings we display A4 size posters advertising our services.
We also distribute Business Cards with contact details on the front and 'what we do' on the back.
Credit Action's Moneymanuals are available free from two (with plans for more) venues.
There are few students in this area so we have not made the Student's Moneymanual available in hard copy however it can be requested free of charge from Credit Action.
The project was set up in March 2009 so it's too early yet to gauge how much demand there will be. We'll let you know of developments in a few months time.
The Aberystwyth Project
We hope to get other groups in Aberystwyth interested so that the project can be enlarged to cover the whole of the town.
Other Projects
We are talking to groups in other areas and will report developments in due course.
