IDEAL Budget Coaching in the Community
1 day course
IDEAL Budget Coaching in the Community equips delegates to help their clients or those in their local community to manage their money better.
It enables delegates not only to assist those already facing debt issues, providing them with essential support and referring them to specialist agencies, but in working with people to prevent debt and other money problems occurring in the first place.
The course has proved invaluable to support and community workers and volunteers seeking a generalist understanding of budgeting and debt.
These frontline workers are often the first to identify those that might be struggling financially and are in a unique position to provide practical support at point of need.
This is a highly practical and interactive course, providing delegates with tools and exercises that they can use with their clients to promote 'better thinking about money' and good budgeting skills.
We are able to offer this course throughout the UK (including Scotland) through our network of highly experienced trainers all of whom are experienced money advisors.
The course will cover:
Identifying the common causes and effects of debt.
Describing where to find and how to collect the information needed to prepare a budget and identifying expenditure that should be given priority.
Explaining the benefits of preparing a budget and describing circumstances that would require the budget to be redrawn.
Accurately preparing a budget from the information collected. Explaining the need for the budget to reflect the life of the family concerned.
Looking for ways that a person could increase their income (including an awareness of welfare benefits and Tax Credits that might be appropriate) or decrease their expenditure.
Understanding the broad debt advice process.
Identifying situations that need urgent referral - and the specialist agencies that could provide help.
Listing the information that the supporting agencies are likely to require.
Recognising the difference between advice and information to protect the organisation and individuals.
