Training

Credit Action Training

Credit Action is committed to equipping people to take control of their money. We deliver training to groups and individuals looking to manage their money better and to community workers and volunteers seeking to support their clients or those in their community in budgeting, money management and how to stay out of debt.

People don't choose to live a life made miserable by debt and financial chaos. It is often something that creeps up on them - or is precipitated by an event such as redundancy, separation or ill health. For many, not knowing where to seek help or the shame of appearing incapable of managing their own affairs compounds the problem, and what was a relatively small issue grows to dominate and can destroy family life and relationships. Our training provides people with the tools and knowledge to manage their money more effectively or to assist others.

Courses and seminars

Courses for Community Workers and Volunteers

These courses are aimed at workers and volunteers at voluntary, statutory and commercial organisations looking to help others to manage their money better. These are likely to be organisations for whom money management is not a primary focus but yet regularly come into contact with clients facing financial difficulty or money related issues.

Our courses have proved valuable to housing associations, credit unions, women's and homeless charities, local councils, churches and community groups.

IDEAL Budget Coaching in the Community - 1 day

This course equips delegates to work with their clients to manage their money more effectively and create a budget. It enables them not only to assist those already facing debt issues, providing them with essential support and referring them to specialist agencies, but in working with people to prevent debt and other money problems occurring in the first place. The courses are highly participative and include practical sessions on how to help an individual or small group develop a personal budget and think through financial issues. Delegates will be sent a small amount of pre-work to complete. Click here for more details.

What is Financial Capability? - 2 hours

Financial literacy and financial capability have, in recent years, become buzzwords. Many organisations are recognising the value of providing services to help their clients to become more financially confident but are looking for help in understanding what they can do in practice. This seminar seeks to de-mystify the terminology of financial capability and cover the key questions faced by organisations looking at how they can best support their clients in taking control of their money. Click here for more details.

NOTE: These courses do not equip delegates as debt advisors. All debt advice agencies must have the necessary Consumer Credit license, professional indemnity insurance and appropriate policies and procedures and will generally have their own training programs to ensure new advisers are trained appropriately and that existing advisers are kept up to date with changes in regulatory requirements, legislation changes and changes in best practice. Please contact us if you would like to discuss setting up a debt advice centre or specific debt training.

Courses for Individuals and Community Groups

We also run seminars for those seeking to manage their own money more effectively.

Better Money Management - 1- 2 hours

This seminar covers the key topics of budgeting, sticking to a budget, credit and dealing with debt. It can be adapted to the particular needs of the group.

Bespoke courses

We are able to provide bespoke courses and seminars covering debt, preparing for university, employee seminars and other money management matters.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
